This year we see a welcome return of the Penpont Gala after COVID had previously resulted in cancellations of the yearly event.  A full events booklet is currently available and these can be picked up from Penpont Village Shop and the Three Villages Cafe. 

This year our Gala Queen is Erin Fry and the crowning of the Queen will take place at Gladstone Hall on Sunday 26th June at 1.45pm.  Attendants are Ava Watson and Kayla Robertson, Scroll Reader is Ethan Meredith, Page Boy is Jamie Frost and the Flower Girl is Florence Wilson-Smith. 

To start the Gala there will be a church service in the park at 9.45am on Sunday 26th June.  Further events will take place Wednesday to Saturday finishing with music from the John Beattie Band on Saturday evening with a dance until Midnight.

Sunday 26th June:  

9.45am - Church Service in the Park.  Special Gala Service in the Marquee in Gladstone Park.

1.45pm - Crowning of the Queen.  Buccleuch and Queensbury Pipe Band will escort the Gala Queen from Gladstone Hall to Gladstone Park.

2.00pm - Bar Opens.  Hot Dogs, Juice and Crisps Hut Open. 

2.00pm - Touch Rugby

2.30pm - Teddy Bears Picnic.  Until 3.30pm.  Babies to P7.  Bring your own picnic. 

2.30pm - French Boules.

Bar closes at 6pm. 

Wednesday 29th June:

6.30pm - Mud Mile.  Meet in the park.  (Please wear appropriate clothes/shoes, you will get muddy!!)

7.30pm - Iain & Tont's Fun Quiz.  Gladstone Park in Marquee.  Prompt start at 8.00pm.  Just turn up on the night.  £4.00/Team (maximum 4 per team)

Thursday 30th June:

2.00pm - 4.00pm - Afternoon Tea/Dance.  With Rene Millar and Friends. In the Marquee: All ages welcome. 

6.00pm -  Car Treasure Hunt.  Registration will be 6.00pm to 6.45pm.  Starts and Finishes in Gladstone Park (last car home by 10pm)

Bar will be open.

Friday 1st July:

6.30pm - BBQ, Juice and crisps hut open. 

6.30pm - Field Games.  Fun for all ages young and old.  (There will be other games in the marquee if the weather is inclement.)

7.30pm - 11.00pm - Robbie's Bingo.  With DJ Michael Smith.  Bingo with a twist!  Loud Music!  Non-competitive!  "Exotic Prizes"!!  Fancy Dress Optional.  (Prize for best fancy dress.)

NOTE - Bell will ring for last orders at 10.45pm

Saturday 2nd July:

12.15pm - Fancy Dress Parade: Judging Begins.  Fancy Dress Contestants - Assemble at Penpont School.  Classes: Children, Adults, Floats etc.  No prior entry required.  JUDGES: Adults and Floats - Debbie and Chris Lord.  Children - Chris and Lindsey Shirley. 

12.45pm - Queen leaves Gladstone Hall. To lay wreath at War Memorial. 

1.00pm - Parade Departs School: Led by Buccleuch & Queensberry Pipe Band.

1.30pm - Presentation of Prizes.

2.00pm - Bar and BBQ open.

2.15pm - Afternoon Entertainment.  Buccleuch & Queensberry Pipe Band. Dancers.  Races.  Mr B Loon - Ballon Artist.  Disco Dome. Bucking Bronco.  Bouncy Castle.  (All entertainment is free of charge.)  Tea and Coffee.  Crisps and lemonade for kids.  

8.00pm - Dance to Midnight with the John Beattie Band.  Please note the bar is open until midnight (last orders 11.45pm)

Penpont Community Council and the Gala Committee would like to thank all those who helped with the organisation/running of this years Gala and are always looking for more committee members/helpers, so do please let them know if you are interested in getting involved.  

For the community's benefit could all attendees please ensure that rubbish goes in the bins provided and that consideration is shown towards the village.  

Finally lets not forget the Big Clean up.  If you are able to offer help, the big clean up will start at 9.00am on Sunday 3rd July.
